The Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) is pleased to welcome a new slate of representatives to the Association’s Board of Management. Theo West-Parks of Westparks + Associates Inc., Toronto, assumed her new position as president of ARIDO at its Annual General Meeting, March 11 in Toronto. An active member of the Association, West-Parks has a strong understanding of current issues facing the interior design industry in Ontario.

Since becoming an ARIDO member in 1981, West-Parks has worked on numerous committees including, most recently, the Bylaws and Building committees. She was Toronto Chapter President in 2003 and 2004, and was awarded the President’s Citation in 2004 and 2007. She also sits on the Scholarship committee and has long been a mentor to several ARIDO Intern members.

“I have always been very proud to be an ARIDO member and I am honoured now to serve as president,” says West-Parks. “I believe it is important to give back to my Association, which represents the interior design profession so well. I look forward to working with our members and staff to support and promote our industry throughout Ontario and beyond.”

Deborah Rutherford of HOK, in Toronto, completed her term as president and assumed the role of past- president, while Eliisa Petersen of Petersen Design, Sudbury, accepted the position of president-elect.

Sue Bennett of Bennett Design Associates Inc., Uxbridge, and Dave Sapelak of Sapelak Design, New Hamburg, enter the final year of their three-year terms as directors, while Clinton Hummel of Paisley Park Inc. in North Bay, and Alexandra Samouk of IBI Group, Ottawa, are in their second year as directors. Joining them as new directors are Debra Dravis-Heming of Prism Partners University Health Network, Toronto, and Janine Grossman of Kasian Design, Toronto. David Gibbons of Callaghan Letellier Wiens Gibbons Facility Planning & Design Inc. in Ottawa was appointed board liaison for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ).
